Old Fitzgerald 11yr Bourbon

Heaven Hill’s Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond Decanter Series is released nationally twice per year, with each release representing one of the two annual distillation seasons, spring and fall. The decanter was inspired by the original 1950’s Old Fitzgerald diamond decanter, and the Fall 2024 Edition represents the 14th release in the series. The age of whiskeys bottled for this series varies, with past releases spanning 8-19 years. Additionally, the suggested price varies as well, which tends to correlate with age of the particular release.

True to form, Fall Edition 2024 is a traditionally-inspired quintessential aged Kentucky bourbon. While its age is about middle of the road relative to previous Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond releases which are more heavily weighted towards the younger side of the 8-19 year age range, it offers a good deal of aged oak throughout its flavor profile. Bright sweet notes of creme brûlée, caramel, brown sugar, and toffee mingle throughout the whiskey, however there is a savory undertone that’s unusual for a wheated bourbon. This is more likely driven by oak, with leather as the most defining flavor that weaves its way throughout. Accents of cinnamon spice round out the whiskey, which is otherwise a wonderful savory-sweet mix.
