E.H. Taylor Cured Oak returns in 2026 after more than a decade away from the lineup — and it was worth the wait. This release is defined by its barrel: white oak staves air-dried for 13 months, more than double the standard six-month curing time. That extended seasoning draws out deeper tannins and terpenes before a single drop of bourbon ever enters the wood, creating a character shaped by the barrel itself rather than age alone.
What Makes It Special
- Barrels aged in Warehouse C, built by Colonel Taylor himself in 1885 — one of Buffalo Trace's most prized aging locations
- Originally released in 2015 with a 17-year age statement; this 2026 edition steps down to 10 years — intentional, to showcase the extra-seasoned barrels at their most balanced point
- Bottled as a Bottled-in-Bond bourbon: 100 proof, one distillery, one distilling season
- A rare, non-annual release — not a regular lineup item
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Toasted oak, caramel, vanilla, dried fruit, leather, and baking spice with a touch of tobacco
- Palate: Rich and layered — the same notes deepen with warmth and complexity
- Finish: Long, dry, and oak-driven with a satisfying fade
