The Most Extraordinary Mezcal in the World
Del Maguey Pechuga is unlike any other spirit on earth. Made using a third distillation in which a raw chicken breast (pechuga) is suspended in the still along with wild mountain fruits, nuts, and spices, this ancient Oaxacan tradition produces a mezcal of incomparable complexity and cultural significance. It is made only once a year, for Day of the Dead celebrations.
A Third Distillation Like No Other
The pechuga process has been practiced for centuries in Oaxaca, and Del Maguey's version is the gold standard:
- 🍎 Wild mountain fruit — apple, plum, and plantain
- 🌰 Nuts and spices from the third distillation
- 🔥 Gentle smoke and earthy agave character
- 🌸 Floral and herbal complexity
- 🏁 An impossibly long, silky finish
Once a Year. For the Dead. For the Living.
Pechuga is produced in tiny quantities, once a year, as an offering to the ancestors. To drink it is to participate in one of Mexico's most ancient and sacred traditions. There is no other mezcal like it.
