Springbank was founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family, who still own and operate it today — making it one of the oldest continuously family-owned distilleries in Scotland. By the 20th century, overproduction, Prohibition, and changing tastes had reduced that number to just three: Springbank, Glen Scotia, and Glengyle (the latter revived by Springbank in 2004).

• Floor Malting — Springbank malts 100% of its own barley on traditional malting floors, a labor-intensive process abandoned by most distilleries decades ago. This gives them complete control over the character of their spirit from the very first step.
• Distillation — Springbank uses a unique 2.5-times distillation process (between the traditional twice and triple distillation), giving the spirit a distinctive richness and complexity.
• Maturation — All whisky is matured on-site in Campbeltown's maritime climate, where the salt air and coastal conditions impart a subtle but unmistakable character to every expression.
• Bottling — Springbank bottles all of its whisky on-site, without chill filtration and at natural color. What you get in the bottle is exactly what came out of the cask.

The Three Expressions: Springbank, Hazelburn & Longrow

Springbank produces three distinct single malts under one roof — each with a different distillation method and peat level:

• Springbank — The flagship. Lightly peated, 2.5-times distilled. Complex, coastal, and deeply characterful. Available in 10, 12, 15, 18, and 21-year expressions, plus occasional limited releases.
• Hazelburn — Triple-distilled and completely unpeated. The smoothest and most approachable of the three, with a delicate, fruity character. We carry the Hazelburn 10 Year — an essential bottle for any Campbeltown collection.
• Longrow — Double-distilled and heavily peated. The smoky, robust counterpart to Hazelburn, beloved by Islay fans who want to explore Campbeltown's character.
